Meowkin

The Meowkin are an anthropomorphic cat race that are known to be smart, stubborn, and great survivalists. After human demise, cats were the first animal to fully evolve into a higher life form. Many believe their quicker evolution was because of human artifacts that the Meowkin learned from, others believe it was a mutation. First, Meowkin created tribes. There were various tribes like the Feliniums, Tabberians, Stripists, Midnights, etc. Tribes fought all the time, always going against each other for anything they could think of. Around 6410 a.d., a great leader named Catactus Litterius came into power over the Felinium tribe. The Felinium tribe was the largest of the Meowkin tribes and had the largest military strength. Catactus Litterius had a dream one night, showing him visions of being a ruler of all Meowkin with tons of grog and pussy (you now cats :-P) all around him. Catactus envied that dream, and soon after, had only one goal in life, to rule all Meowkin. Assembling his army, Catactus swept the Meowkin tribes, and gave them two options, join peacefully or be destroyed. Many tribes had no option but to join Catactus, but others tried to fight back. Every tribe that picked the latter, was decimated, and Catactus gained one step closer to his goal. Everyone called this the Licking.

After only 10 years, Catactus conquered all the tribes except one, the Tabberians. The Tabberians were the second largest tribe in the land. They were known to be the most ruthless, and the best fighters in all the land. They were ruled by the beautiful Clawnia Whiskerius. Clawnia was not only pretty, but she was intelligent. When Catactus’s expansion met the Tabberians, Clawnia was given the same option, join or die. Clawnia would never back down and be ruled by a tyrant, but surprisingly, she decided to join. Clawnia could never defeat Catactus in battle, now that his military size has grown immensely. But she had a plan. Even though the Tabberians were discouraged by her decision, they had faith in Clawnia and stayed by her side. Catactus was proud with his accomplishment, he controlled all Meowkin. He held a great banquet where he invited all the former tribe rulers across the land, at least the ones that were still alive that is. He decreed that he would be supreme ruler of the Meowkin empire, and all the rulers would be his subjects to continue ruling their tribes but only under his will. With no choice given, the tribe leaders agreed and accepted their new ruler. At the banquet, Clawnia slowly made her way closer to Catactus, trying to fetch his eye. Catactus already noticed Clawnia the moment she walked in but was wary of her since her decision to join was shocking. Towards the end of the party, Clawnia finally got to meet her new king. Clawnia told Catactus that she accepted her new ruler and was impressed by the might of his tribe. Her charm was strong, and her words seemed truthful. Catactus knew something was wrong, and figured it was all a trick. But as Catactus and Clawnia spoke, another tribal leader had a more sinister idea. The enraged tribal leader came at Catactus with a knife trying to assassinate the new leader. Guards unprepared, and Catactus unarmed, a swift death to the king was coming. But Clawnia, grabbed the assassin, and killed him with a quick twist of the neck. Wow, this got dark... The supreme ruler was saved by the one he trusted the least. Clawnia proved her servitude to Catactus that day and showed the other tribal leaders that she was a storm to be reckoned with. Clawnia left Catactus in amazement, which soon would lead to affection.

Catactus adored and respected Clawnia after her acts, and since that day kept in constant contact with Clawnia. Clawnia would make frequent visits to Catactus, and their love grew and grew. After a year had pass, Catactus decided to marry Clawnia. She became Queen of Meowkin, showing that feuding tribes can come together. Catactus and Clawnia ruled as one, with an iron fist instilling order over the chaotic Meowkin. As they seemed as stone-cold leaders, they were very affectionate in private. Clawnia would rub oil on Catactus’s fur at night, and Catactus would buy very rare gifts for Clawnia like diamond encrusted cat toys. Eventually, they had a son, a rightful heir to the throne, named Furius.

Catactus and Clawnia’s love was unheard of, the things of stories. But on one fateful night, during a supper feast, King Catactus fell ill and left to his chamber. The next few days, Catactus would feel sicker and sicker. Clawnia would be by his side all day long, rubbing his fur with his favorite oil, reminding him of their love. After the fifth day, Catactus was in dire straits. The doctors said he had only hours to live and could not figure out the cause. Clawnia asked to be alone with Catactus, to be with her love one last time. With an empty room, Clawnia started to laugh quietly. Catactus was confused as to why his beloved queen would be laughing on his own death bed. Clawnia told Catactus that he was a fool and thanked him for his hard work uniting Meowkin. The oil rubbed on his fur was a poison seeping into his skin slowly, and she has been killing Catactus ever since they were first married. To be fair, you knew this was coming. She also admitted to setting up the assassin at the banquet, and how it would be the only way to gain Catactus’s trust. Clawnia only wanted one thing, to rule, and to rule alone. With his dying breath, Catactus whispers into Clawnia’s ear, “…et tu, feles''. Catactus died and died knowing the truth.

Clawnia assumed the throne of Meowkin as the sole ruler, and no one knew of her betrayal, or so they thought. Twist time! At the time Catactus started to feel ill, he made special plans. Catactus was always worried of being assassinated, and never fully trusted anyone. His plan was to arrange a special room when he was sick, where someone would always be monitoring him but unnoticed. Catactus told no one except a single person whose sole job was to watch the king. If this person caught anything suspicious, they would bring the news to the loyal armies of Calactus and all Meowkin. Clawnia was caught red handed, and the word got out of her deceitful betrayal. Clawnia was executed for her crimes, and the kingdom was left king-less.

Furius was the next in line to the throne but was too young to rule. Catactus made a will prior to his death. It stated that a regent would be appointed to Furius until he is the rightful age to rule. Catactus appointed his top military general, General Purrius to be the regent of Furius. General Purrius was no father, but taught Furius all he knew, which was war. Over the years, Furius would learn everything about military combat, and became a gifted strategist. Furius loved war, and he developed a Mewokin education structure based around combat. This led to newer and better inventions for combat, and to military advancements like the first Animus Engine. Furius believed that the humans already made great strides in war, and Meowkin should focus on those first to better at it.

Furius would be known as King Furius the Ruthless, as he expanded Meowkin rule to never before seen extents. Meowkin were close to taking over the entire world. However, as the Meowkin advanced, so did other empires. Eventually, other empires were able to steal the Animus Engine, the top war machine of Meowkin. It wouldn’t take long for others to reverse engineer these mechanized monsters and create their own. Once given a more of a fight chance, Meowkin expansion would stall. King Furius was furious and decided to pilot his own Animus Engine to lead his war up close and personal. Having King Furius on the battlefield excited his troops, and the Meowkin expansion continued. King Furius idolized a well-known human hero, and always ran into battle with two large rocket lauchers called commandos. If his hero could kill over 70 people in a battle, so could King Furius. That was until that fateful day at Litter Mound Top, where King Furius was grossly outnumbered. King Furius seemed unstoppable but eventually fell to the enemy and was killed in action. Eventually Meowkin were pushed back by other empires, and hundreds of years of bloodshed would envelope the world.

The Meowkin rulers followed Furius the Ruthless military teachings, and it created a strong militaristic culture. But one ruler felt differently. Pawkins the Great. Pawkins grew up as the youngest of two brothers. Pawkins’ brother, Scratchran was the next rightful heir to the Meowkin throne. When he was older, Scratchran decided to lead the Green Acres campaign against the Hoppites. It was a great honor to lead a campaign, and it would prove to all Meowkin that Scratchran has the right to be heir. Green Acres was a simple campaign, destroy Hoppite supply routes and warehouses to limit their supplies. This would in turn, push back the Hoppites, and let the Meowkin advance. Scratchran was successful in destroying multiple warehouses, supply vehicles, and redirecting Hoppite supplies. However, Scratchran let his pride take over him, and he decided to attack the Hoppite’s main supply facility head on. It was the largest of facilities, and most heavily guarded. Scratchran attacked the facility and overtook it with ease; too easily. What Scratchran didn’t know was that it was a trap, Hoppites rigged the facility with explosives, and blew up most of Scratchran’s forces. Then the Hoppites countered with their own attack capturing Scratchran in the process. Word got out on Scratchran’s capture, and Pawkins was greatly saddened.

Against his father’s will, Pawkins decided to create a small team to infiltrate the Hoppites and rescue his brother. The goal was to go unnoticed, get in, and get out. After some searching, Pawkins found his brother. Scratchran was a prisoner, tortured and beaten; only half the person he once was. Pawkins attempted to get Scratchran out but was caught in the process. Unbeknownst to Pawkins, his brother committed horrible war crimes against the Hoppites. Pawkins learned everything about his brother’s heinous acts and couldn’t look at him the same. The Meowkin were vicious fighters but had rules for combat. Scratchran broke those rules and was a disgrace. Pawkins made a secret deal with the Hoppites, let him go back to Meowkin to tell his father, the king, about his brother’s acts, and Scratchran would remain a prisoner until a ceasefire was introduced. Hoppites didn’t trust Pawkins, but they were slowly losing the war and had little options.

Pawkins made it back home and showed his father proof of all the things that Scratchran had done. Shocked and outraged, Pawkins' father couldn’t believe the news. Pawkins pleaded with his father to stop the war with the Hoppites, at least temporarily, for the acts committed, and to get back his brother. After much convincing, Pawkins' father agreed and made a deal with the Hoppites. The war between the Meowkin and Hoppites was stalled, Scratchran returned home broken. News got out about Scratchran’s doings, and Meowkin demanded punishment. The king has no choice but to exile Scratchran and disown him. Pawkins wanted his brother back, but he felt that his brother died a long time ago. This left Pawkins as the sole heir to the throne, and war hero.

Years passed, Scratchran never returned, and Pawkins became king. Pawkins made a deal with the Hoppites to initiate a trade partnership. The Meowkin and Hoppites traded technology and both grew. Pawkins sustained Meowkin's way of life, and protected them the best he could. However, if any empire threatened Meowkin, Pawkins came down with a vicious hammer. Pawkins found he was in constant battle with Caninia. Pawkins would be known as Pawkins the Great, creating a stronger Meowkin. Other empires were not thrilled about the new trade partnership between the Meowkin and Hoppites, particularly the Caninians. The Caninians launched assaults on trade ships to sever the movement of trade supplies. Even though the war between the Hoppites and Meowkin died down, the Caninans sparked a new one. But Pawkins was tired of war. Pawkins and the Hoppites, tried to come make a deal with the Caninians, but peace could not be reached. The war machine never dies, and Pawkins struggled to accept that.

The best thing Pawkins ever did was marry his wife, Flufferina. Not only beautiful, she was very smart. Flufferina taught Pawkins the value of life, and how peace is what everyone should strive for. Pawkins saw war firsthand, how his brother committed evil acts, and how a trade partnership helped their people. It didn't take much convincing for Pawkins to believe in peace like Flufferina. Flufferina brought sunshine to Pawkins, and it made him the happiest king in the world.

During the war against the Caninians, Pawkins and Flufferina had a son, named Midaz. But this birth was bittersweet, as Flufferina died in childbirth. To honor his wife, Pawkins put every ounce of strength he had into raising his son as Flufferina would have wanted. Midaz was a small Meowkin but was very clever. At a young age, Midaz knew how to trick the staff into giving him candy, beat the other kids at games using only wit, and learned to look at problems from different angles. Most of all, Midaz had his father, Pawkins, to help teach him about the importance of life. Midaz always played with the local kids, and their favorite game was claw ball. The other kids knew Midaz was heir to the throne, so they always went easy on him, not to hurt him in any way. Midaz learned from the kids what other Meowkin thoughts about life, war, and violence. A lot of Meowkin still liked war and violence, and some saw the war with the Caninians as a blessing. Midaz was conflicted as he heard different ideals between his friends and his father. So Midaz decided to ask his father about it.

Pawkins told Midaz the truth about his brother, Scratchran, and his first-hand experiences of war with the Hoppites. He also told Midaz of his ancestors and the acts of violence they committed against each other. Their family came from a long line of ruthless leaders. Midaz was stunned to think he could be related to such monsters, but it was a fact he would have to accept. From then, Midaz understood the consequences of war. He then asked Pawkins if there is a way to end all war. Pawkins had no answers for Midaz, only hope that his son may figure it out someday.

A few years later, Pawkin the Great fell very ill. The sickness is unknown. Some believed it was an assassination attempt like Clawnia, while others thought it was just bad luck. Midaz stayed next to his father’s side up until his death. Midaz was teared apart from losing his father and stayed isolated from the world. But the heir had to be a king, and Meowkin needed him. Midaz never liked the word king and felt it overbearing. He decided to rather be called Lord Midaz, as he was the master of the Meowkin household, not a tyrant. Lord Midaz ruled the Meowkin with honor, made prosperous choices, and reluctantly continued his war against the Caninians during the War of Kibble. Even though he hated war, Lord Midaz was a great strategist that would lead Meowkin to many victories. But Lord Midaz only ever thought about one thing, peace. His father tried negotiating and failed. But was there another way?

Eventually, Lord Midaz developed the Arena Brutalis, and united all empires under competition. The Meowkin who were conquerors at first, would find themselves to be the peace bringers. Arena Brutalis were held annually in the Meowkin capital of Whiskitaria. A large arena was built to house the games, and all the empires went there to compete. Meowkin has the best Animus Engines, saw a ton of glory during the Arena Brutalis, and were very prosperous during these times. However, this all came to an end upon the assassination of Lord Midaz.

When Lord Midaz died, the Bleak started. Arena Brutalis ended, war reignited among the empires, and Meowkin had a civil war. The civil war of Meowkin severed their empire and broke it up into separate factions. Each faction had their own ruler, and Meowkin life seemed to revert to the time before Catactus's unification. Meowkin were a broken empire, barely surviving.

Almost 100 years went by since Lord Midaz was killed and the Golden Quinctus rose to stardom. The Golden Quinctus recreated the Arena Brutalis, and Meowkin rejoiced. Since the Meowkin were split apart, they competed in the new games representing their separate faction rather than the Meowkin empire. The Meowkin war machines, Animus Engines, were in dire disrepair. With limited time and supplies, Meowkin factions did their best to get these old machines working again, upgraded them with the universal port, and headed to compete in the games. It wasn’t uncommon to see a Meowkin Animus Engine to have rust, or old bullet holes. But Meowkin Animus Engines were built well and could run forever. Meowkin never reunited again after Lord Midaz, but would continue to see glory in Arena Brutalis.
