Arena Brutalis History

Sorry to break it to you, but in the future, the human race is dead. We only have ourselves to blame, but our knowledge would live on. Yey for us!? After our demise, animals took over the earth and only the strong survived. Many were eaten, certain species went extinct, others flourished. Eventually, the survivors would evolve, become smarter in some ways, dumber in others, and create societies. But animal instinct can't be erased, and societies raged war on each other. No one ever wins in war, but it quenched the thirst for blood.

Societies turned into empires ruled by tyrants. There was the cat empire called Meowkin, the dog empire called Caninia, the bunny empire called Hoppes, and many more. Empires found artifacts from the human era and used this knowledge for war. Advancing the war machines humans created, the empires only got more efficient at killing each other but in a unique way. Unknown to these empires, some human “inventions” weren't weapons at all. Empires found historical tapes and archives of random knowledge. But they didn't know what movies, or the internet was, so they only saw it as fact. Still, they took these ideas and made them deadly while idolizing the legendary human heroes.

In the year 2500a.d. the Animus Engine was created by the Meowkin. Animus Engines were large combat mechs that could be outfitted with different crazy weapons. The invention of this war machine would lead the Meowkin to many victories and expand their empire. But this technology was quickly stolen, reversed engineered, and used against them. War continued to spread for 500 years until the rise of Lord Midaz.

Lord Midaz was the ruler of the Meowkin. He was small, had a disfigured ripped ear, but most of all, was clever. Lord Midaz believed in one thing, peace, which many disagreed with. To get the other empires to agree to peace, he used flowers, candy, bribes; nothing worked. Lord Midaz was stumped, until he came up with an interesting idea. He knew everyone craved violence, and thought… why not end violence with violence?

Lord Midaz created the Arena Brutalis, combat games that used the Animus Engines as contestants. They would fight each other in various games using their best technology. The winner would get the Primus Gloria, the award for the overall winner of the Arena Brutalis. This award gave an empire respect, prosperity, and the right to gloat. Plus, a really giant trophy! At first, the other empires laughed and joked about the Arena Brutalis, but soon came to love the games. The Arena Brutalis brought peace to the world for the first time ever and all wars were put on hold. Lord Midaz was a savior, the game master, and was respected by all.

Even though Lord Midaz created world peace, he had major flaw, his sweet tooth. He loved candy, and only ate the best from around the world. He also got quite fat because of it. Gifts were constantly being sent to him from all the empires, and one day he received a mysterious package full of all his favorite candy. Wary that it would be poison, he had a taste tester try it, and all seemed fine. After seeing that it was not poison, Lord Midaz hastily ate the whole lot in a single serving with great delight. It wasn't until a few days later when both him and the taste tester fell ill. It was a completely unknown type of poison that worked slowly, and doctors couldn’t figure how to remedy it. Death succumbed to both the taste tester and Lord Midaz, and the world was shocked at the death of their peace creator, not so much the taste tester; people forgot about him.

After Lord Midaz's death, the empires started to blame each other, the Arena Brutalis stopped, and war sparked once again. The Meowkin would have civil wars and break into smaller factions, and everything seemed bleak. They called this time the Bleak; everyone was sad, angry, and depressed. Animus Engines saw rust for the first time and there was no comedy, no fun, no candy, and most of all, no combat games.

This was until 3165a.d. when a mysterious group called the Golden Quinctus came to reunite the old truce and start the Arena Brutalis once again. Held on a large remote island, the Arena Brutalis would host more games than ever before with unique twists of randomness. Animus Engines were dusted off and saw competition once again. They were enhanced by a Universal Port that would give all the Animus Engines the ability to swap weapons and parts with each other. This sparked trade between the empires, and empires and factions once again came together. No one knew who the Golden Quinctus were, but no one cared as peace and violent games were back. Everyone high fived! Oh, and candy came back!

The annual Arena Brutalis have started once again. Factions across the world are ready to compete to win the Arena Brutalis and the Primus Gloria. To some this is for the glory, others for the riches, and others just for the bloodlust. Who will win this year's Arena Brutalis?
