Arena Brutalis Weapons & Equipment

Arena Brutalis would be nothing without their amazing, crazy, and stupid weapons & equipment. The games are fought and won with these items. But interesting enough, these weapons and equipment have a history behind them. Some have strange origins, and others are a little more straight-forward.

Rex

"Don’t forget your dino.”

The Rex are the most highly used arm slots in the world, and also, one of the oldest. The Rex got their name because of their short and stubby size and were designed to work chores in society. When Animus Engines were born, so were the Rex. They were cheap to make and could do most tasks. When Arena Brutalis was created, these were the default armaments for an Animus Engine. They may not be strong, or fierce, but they still get the job done. To this day, Animus Engines enter the arena with these equipped.

Commando

"Let off some smoke.”

Commando is a weapon that was made famous by King Furius of Meowkin. Simply, it's a rocket launcher. King Furius was actually the person responsible for designing this weapon after he saw his human hero use it in a historical tape. This weapon has a great range, and a great destructive power. At the time of King Furius' death, he was piloting an Animus Engine with two of these weapons attached. Some say he just enjoyed the firework-like display of the explosions. As this weapon is quite old, it has tested the age of time. To this day, this is one of the crowd's favorite weapons in the Arena. The only issue is that is destroys the arena too well.

Pea Shooter

“Hell is coming to brunch.”

The Pea shooter is the standard issue weapon for Animus Engines on the battlefield. It was developed by the Meowkin and is one of the first weapons to be mass produced; next to the Commando. It features a large barrel of small bullets, called peas, that can be fired in semi-automatic mode. Everyone has seen this weapon go PEW PEW.

Big Loli

“Come with me if you want to see a world of imagination. ”

How would you feel if you were smacked with a giant lollipop? In honor of King Midaz during the first Arena Brutalis, the Meowkin designed this close combat weapon to show his love for candy. When it was first designed the lolipop was so big and heavy, a single arm could not wield it. Instead of making it smaller, the Meowking added an additional arm to support the weight. Everyone soon realized how crazy this weapon was when an Animus Engine hit another so hard it was launched it out of the Arena. Even in the current Arena Brutalis, this weapon knocks opponents all over.

Uber

“Danke!”

The Uber is the first weapon to be created that could heal an Animus Engine. Almost like magic, this weapon uses nano particles coming from a concentrated beam to repair metal and other types of hardware. This weapon, however, was one of the Arena's least favorite weapons. Most societies enjoyed the violence and not the repair. Therefore, the Uber has two modes, repair and destroy. Similar to how it heals, it can cause damage just the same. A skilled user of the Uber will know how to use the weapon and when.

Eye

“Less foreplay.”

Known as the first super weapon, the Eye is quite a formidable weapon. The eye revolves around the theory of one shot, one kill. But all you get is one shot. Designed during the era of the first Arena Brutalis, this weapon was first used during game's sudden death round. It quickly came to be a popular weapon with its very destructive capabilities and was then used during normal game play. Still, some consider this weapon to be too powerful and too high risk.

ZFF-1

“Should have asked about the red button.”

The latest in technology with a super sleek design, the ZFF-1 is one of the newest weapons to enter the Arena. When the Golden Quinctus reopened the Arena Brutalis, this was one of the weapons gifted to the new contestants. It was said to be created from a long-lost human archive that the Golden Quinctus found during their rebuilding on the Sanguines. ZFF-1 has a variety of killing weapons, ranging from missile launcher, flamethrower, needlers, etc. Almost too much functionality in one tiny package. One function in particular that no one seemed to ask originally was about the red button near the bottom. That was until a Meowkin Animus Engine pilot accidentally pressed it in combat. Didn't end well for him.

Painless

“I don’t have time to bleed.”

What is there to say about painless than its pure raw power. This is another weapon created during King Furius' rule and based on more human historical recordings. While not necessarily an accurate weapon, it makes up for in speed and destructive power. Originally, this weapon was used as a clearing weapon, cutting paths to enemies, and destroying obstacles. Any friend or foe would get a rude awakening if caught in the fire. Tied with the Commando, Painless has destroyed more structures in the Arena than any other weapon.

Baba Yaga

“He once killed 5 men with a pencil. A PENCIL!"

The Baba Yaga is called the assassin weapon, as no one expects it to be that dangerous. Literally a pencil, the Baba Yaga decimates opponents if they leave their defenses unguarded. Little is know to where this weapon was created. Some believe the Baba Yaga was created by a secret society, others by a schoolteacher. All we know for certain is that looks can be deceiving.

Sephimune

“Only death is here for you all.”

Maybe one of the scariest weapons in the Arena, the Sephimune is a giant bada$$ sword. Developed by the Caninians, this sword slices through enemies with one fell swoop. Not only is it powerful, but it has a long range too. The Sephimune is a crowd favorite in the Arena, and everyone loves to watch the chaos it brings. If you see your opponent using this weapon, my only advice is to stay away!

Avenger

“I’m toxic… I think. "

The Avenger is one of the first dirty weapons that harnesses radioactive material to degrade a defender's armor. This corrosive ability not only helps with attacks from this weapon but from other subsequent attacks from other weapons. Before it was radioactive, this weapon was developed by the duck-like empire, Fowlia. Fowlians are somewhat goofy engineers when it comes to weapons, and always made things that involved or were inspired by water. The Avenger was one of those weapons, and it's initial use was to mop up public areas. When the Arena Brutalis began, the Fowlians irradiated the Avenger, to become a deadly armor eating weapon.

Banga

Rang!

One of Caninians favorite household game is throwing and retrieving a stick, they call it fetcher. Every Caninian grew up playing this game. During their uncovering of human archives, they stumbled upon a similar throwing device but was design to come back to the user. Integrating this discovery with their past time game, they eventually developed the Banga. The Banga may look basic but it is a complicated piece of engineering. The Arm of the Banga is outfitted with precision pistons that can throw it's projectile very far distances. The projectile is huge and contains electronics that let it home onto it's target and return to the user. The Banga is unique as it can hit multiple targets with each use.

Pro

“The closer you are to the enemy, the closer you are to be a pro.”

The Pro is a very odd weapon that looks similar to a potted plant. Instead of leaves and flowers, the Pro is a series of sharp titanium blades on mechanical arms. The Pro uses it's outside blades to ensnare their victim, while the inside blades spin ripping up anything it touches. Caninians invented this weapon to be used for taking down walls or bunkers for military operations. After a large hole was made, Caninian Animus Engines would storm in using this same weapon in close combat. The closer this weapon is to your opponent, the more deadly it was. The only drawback with this weapon was the maintenance, requiring sharpening and blade replacement frequently.

Scorpio

“AWESOME VICTORY! ”

As most weapons are designed to push back your enemies, the Scorpio is the opposite. The Scorpio shoots a tether spike at the opponent and uses a high strength winch system to drag their opponent to them. Many think it was Caninian weapon, since Caninian Animus Engines are slow, but actually it was developed by the Soarists. Before it's use in combat, Soarist would use this device to lift and carry things when flying. The first time the Scorpio was weaponized was in the early wars between the Soarists and the Foawlians, called the Water Holes. These series of wars were fought to control certain clean natural water supplies. Soartists would conduct quick raids where they would fly at incredible speeds and pluck defending Fowlian Animus Engines from the water. In the Arena today, the Scorpio is used to drag opponents towards them usually to stop the claiming of an objective or to bring the enemy into range of their close combat weapons.

Slap

“What did the five fingers say to the cheek? ”

Nothing is funnier than seeing an Animus Engine destroyed by a comical weapon. The Slap is a stupid weapon that has a series of rotating hands use to consistently slap an opponent. The idea behind this weapon was to attack a certain spot in an enemy's armor and hit it repeatedly. The Slap was designed by a Meowkin kid... yep.. a kid. During the Arene Brutalis games under King Midaz, King Midaz held a local competition for their younger populous to create a weapon concept. After thousands of entries, King Midaz himself picked this weapon design. It is said that King Midaz couldn't stop laughing when he looked at the weapon and imagining it spinning, slapping an enemy. When the Slap made it into the games, the laughter of the crowd roared through the Arena. Even other empires enjoyed the sight and use of this weapon. It was never designed to be the strongest of weapons, but a slap to the face.

Thing Killer

“When these flames go out, neither will us.”

One of the scariest weapons in the Arena, Thing Killer is a very powerful flame thrower. Anything that stands in the way of Thing Killer, is melted. Caninians invented this weapon under the famous Canine King. During the expansion of King Furius, the Canine King needed a powerful weapon that would surpass Meowkin design. In the battle of Little Mount Top, the Canine King Outfitted all Animus Engines with the Thing Killer and commanded an all out attack on King Furius. With King Furius on the front lines, there was little he could do to defend against the wall of fire from the Caninians. This deciding victory, made the Canine King a legend.

Yo

“Yo. Yo. Yo?!”

During the uncover of human history by the early Caninians, they stumbled upon an ancient weapon that uses string tied to a rotating puck. Caninains thought the world of it, and it was used as one of the Caninans first weapons. They called it the Yo. After years passed, the Yo was slowly phased out and replaced by better stronger weapons. After Caninia started to compete in the Arena Brutalis, one Caninian engineer wanted to create a culture infused weapon that represented early Caninian history. This engineer developed the Animuns Engine weapon that you see now, and in tribute to the original Yo, they kept the name. The modern Yo was enhanced to swing multiple projectiles at a single enemy or all enemies surrounding the user. Caninians are proud to use this weapon and proud of this history.

Butterfly

Pigeon? ”

The Butterfly is a piece of equipment that offers extra defense to the user via a energy. This equipment was originally a Hoppite creation but was given to the Meowkin under the rule of Pawkins the Great. Before Pawkins the Great became king, he made a deal with the Hoppites to atone for the sins of his brother. In honor of Pawkins, the Hoppites gifted the Meowkin with the Butterfly. Some say it looks like butterfly wings, to others a pigeon. All we know is that the Meowkin use this quite frequently in battle.

Anchors Away

“Why is all the alcohol gone? ”

Anchors Away was originally designed for prisoners during the Great Octopus wars. The Great Octopus wars were a series of sea battles between empires and a rising pirate nation. It didn't matter what empire you were from the pirates would constantly ransack ships and supplies. This eventually made the pirates rich, rich enough to create a formidable force. The wars lasted for some time, but eventually the pirates lost, some died, and many were captured as prisoners. These pirates were condemned to work as laborers for the empires to repay the debt that they stole. The imprisoned pirates were sometimes given Animus Engines to use to do the heavy tasks. To ensure that the prisoner didn't escape with the Animus Engines, the Anchors Away was designed to slow down their movement. To give another jab in the gut to the pirates, Anchors Away look like anchors. Anchors Away came to be included in the games during the resurrection of the Arena Brutalis by the Golden Quinctus. As some weapons and equipment would aid an Animus Engine, this one was made to suppress its ability. Some say that the Anchors Away was included in the games to show remembrance for the pirates who were imprisoned, while others think one of the Golden Quinctus is a pirate them self.

Wylld

“Whao, Dude!”

One of the most excellent pieces of equipment seen in the Arena, the Wylld has amazing powers. In short, the Wylld is a time machine, allowing the user to go back in time but only for a brief second. The only person to know time was reverted is the user, so many fans of Arena Brutalis don't even know it was used. The Wylld is another gift from the Golden Quinctus during the new era of Arena Brutalis, and just like the Golden Quinctus, it is shrouded in mystery. The problem is no one knows how it really works, and the only way to create it is to obtain it directly from the Golden Quinctus. Some think that it is alien technology, while others think that someone in the future came back to the past to give it to them. Either way, this is a most sought-after piece of equipment that can change the tide of war.

Rocket

“I wasn’t going to keep it, but I will definitely borrow it.”

Who doesn't like to fly? The Rocket is an older piece of equipment that was originally created by the Soarist Empire. The Soarists were bird like beings that favored speed and flying over everything. When Arena Brutalis was created and trade between empires began, the Rocket was one that made its way on the top of the list. While not all Animus Engines are as balanced as Soarist constructs, the Rocket still offers great mobility. The only thing it doesn't come with is a helmet!

Broton

“Just thought about it… we never tested these things out. "

A highly experimental piece of equipment originally created by the Hoppites. The Hoppites developed this in a secret underground lab where they conducts all kinds of military experiments. The Broton was a technological break thru as it could enhance their weaponry to do more damage. The downfall to this weapon is that it was unstable and was prone to exploding. But as time went by the weapon got better and more stable. When the Hoppites used this in the Arena Brutalis, all the empires were jealous. This made the Broton one of the sought after pieces of equipment, and sales of the Proton helped to boom Hoppite economy.

Xeno

“Stay away from her, you huge scary alien!"

One of the scariest pieces of equipment created, the Xeno looks like some weird alien. Don't be fooled though, this thing does not want to give out hugs. The Xeno was first created by the Caninia to enhance their mobility in the Arena Brutalis. As the Caninian Animus Engines were cumbersome and slow, they developed the Xeno to help them get into combat quicker. Not only designed for speed, the Xeno looks scary. Even the fans were creeped out watching the legs move around like some weird spider and odd green spit coming from it's mouth.

Nyan

Meow"

The Nyan may be the most annoying piece of equipment ever created. Originally, Caninians developed it as a new type of communications device between Animus Engines during war. However, it never worked all that well and was phased out fairly quickly. When the first Arena Brutalis games began, Caninians had an idea to use this device as an inhibitor. Instead of using the Nyan for communications, it would be transformed into a repetitive music machine to distract the Animus Engine pilot. Without concentration, pilots would forget how to use weapons correctly, and sometimes even causing the pilot to go a little crazy. Everyone has a love hate relationship with the Nyan; you enjoy watching you opponent receive it in the Arena, but you hate it when you have it. Sometimes, you can even hear the crowd sing the song the Nyan plays in the Arena, annoying all the pilots.

Inspector

Go go"

Who doesn't like a crazy robot hat? The Inspector is an odd backpack hat that has multiple robot arms to help an Animus Engine. The origins behind the Inspector are a little cloudy as it was first seen being used by Golden Quinctus' Animus Engines on the Sanguines. These Animus Engines used the Inspector to help build the new Arenas and outfit the battlefields. More hands equaled to more efficient building and maintenance. One thing that is unique about the inspector is a small embedded AI. Not as advanced as a T.E.D. but this AI can be seen doing chores without needing the Animus Engine Pilot to micromanage. Some times, you can even see the Inspector get a little nippy with the Animus Engine pilot.
