NIP-25 Animus Engine

Animus Engines

Animus Engines are deadly combat mechs designed to only destroy. Invented in 1500a.d. under King Furius of Meowkin, it changed the face of combat forever. Animus Engines were very mobile, customizable, and serviceable. About the size of a two-story building, it allowed for a single pilot to control all movement and functions. At first, most weapons were scaled up versions of smaller personnel equipment, but later specific Animus Engine weapons would be created.

When the Meowkin were the only ones with Animus Engines, they nearly took over the world. King Furius aimed to control everything and only believed in war. Once other empires stole the Meowkin technology, Meowkin reign would soon stall. King Furius was… well… furious and decided to pilot his own Animus Engine into battle sporting two rocket launchers called Commandos, in honor of his human war hero. King Furius was quite successful in battle but his steam would soon run out. He was killed in battle at Litter Mound Top, the bloodiest battle ever seen.

The Animus Engine would advance throughout the years becoming more deadly and ridiculous. They were the best killing machines in the world. Once Lord Midaz came into power and created the Arena Brutalis, Animus Engines were just as deadly, but we're used only as competitive gladiators. This sparked trade between empires, which led to further enhancements for Animus Engines. Animus Engines were the world's stars, everyone loved watching the mechanical monstrosities engage into combat, and to see what new technology they would be outfitted with. When you see someone win using a yoyo, you come back for more.

When the whole world was turned upside down after Lord Midaz's death, Animus Engines became forgotten. As Animus Engines felt connected with the Arena Brutalis and Lord Midaz, empires didn't want to touch them anymore. They were left to rot, society stopped eating candy, and war reignited. Animus Engines were old news until the Golden Quinctus.

The Golden Quinctus reopened the Arena Brutalis and brought back the love for the Animus Engine. Even though the world was different, Animus Engines were dusted off and placed into combat. They were further upgraded with the Universal Port to allow for any Animus Engine to use any part. This created a trade culture and super customizable mechs. It also enhanced the Arena Brutalis offering more random combat and a chance for anyone to win. It all came down to skill and luck. Even small factions would see glory and gain recognition by larger empires.

Animus Engines are the new hotness once again. Some may be in better shape than others, but if it runs, it could win. Meowkin who invented the Animus Engine once had the best in the world, now had the most rusted and dilapidated versions. But even rusted, Meowkin made reliable machines and they could still battle just as they did. Every empire and faction had its strength. Caninians focus on developing armor technology for durability, Hoppites utilize energy technology, and Soarists focus on aiming and sight. Other smaller factions create devastating weapons too, and soon found their place in the world and the games. Will world peace survive relying only on the Animus Engine and the Arena Brutalis? We can only hope…
